what is an ode?

Postby Someone who needs help » Wed Jan 07, 2004 12:27 am

I know that this is probably the simplest yet stupidest question ever posted on this board, but what is the history of an ode (such as the progression, key people, key dates, where it came from, why it's unique..ect) ?

I suggest you read the article about the ode in THE NEW PRINCETON ENCYCLOPEDIA OF POETRY AND POETICS, it should answer your questions.
