And his mother and father had both died when he was very young, leaving him to nurse his brother through a fatal illness. Surrounded by death, he was probably coming to terms with it through his writing, and the knowledge that he would die in the same horrible way, and so young. The great thing about Keats is, even though he's occupied by death, he's not preoccupied. He celebrates life too, even though he knows he's not got a lot of life left to live.
