Stream of Consciousness 9/7/19

I hurt you, and I hate myself for it.
I hurt you, and it hurts.
I saw us hugging at the school,
Crying into your shirt.

I met your parents in a dream,
And we were almost one.
I met your soul in memory,
And you were almost mine.

You held me in false recollections —
It was calm, pure-light divine.
You held me always, with your words,
And that was just real life.

I hate this in all entirety;
I wish they would arrest me.
They won’t because you’re Winston-Montag,
And I’m your Julia-Clarisse.

Heartbreaking. Thanks for sharing. Few things as painful as unrequited love.

If I had a pound or a dollar for every poem I've written on that topic....

Ah, yes...Though this one is not quite unrequited, but more-less clandestine in nature. It’s most similar to the relationship between Montag and Clarisse, in Orwell’s 1984. As Orwell would say, “Confession is not betrayal.” But is it?

Ah I get you now, I really like it.

Again thanks for sharing - I can only apologise there are not more active users or posters in this forum - this once was a pretty great little community many years ago...alas time marches on, people move on to other things.

I appreciate your work feel free to keep contributing.

Yes, time keeps a domineering, ticking hum, but truth and beauty are preserved so long as there is someone to read the posts and poems. The mind brings art to life, and that is the basis of my belief.
I had an old friend who used to post here, many years ago. He was an amazing poet, sublime almost — but as you eloquently noted, time marches on... And thank you!
