I’ve lived in a land of drought,
A wasteland choked with dust.
Where seldom was seen, or felt
A single drop of the precious,
Nurturing, and sweet balm of
One solitary raincloud puffed
To the billows with the excess
Needed to fructify the plain.

I am no camel, no cactus I
To hold in retention stores
For the barren, baked season.
I have no reservoir of hope
From which any nourishment
May be drawn in hard times.

In such cases a stiffening,
A seepage, damage occours,
And decay and rot inevitably
Follow, and. unintended weeds
Spring up to choke all foliage.
I had need of a rainmaker.

All of a sudden, quite unasked,
Uncalled, unheeded, rain came
And washed the plain entire,
A deluge of warmth and life
Came babbling across stony
And long-dried riverbeds.
It licked the roots, almost
Rotten, of many failing trees.

And you are my rainmaker,
My storm cloud in the dust,
The one who came to tend
And gently restore to health
A rock strewn desolation to
Make an oasis in the sands.
"Oh what a misery it is to have an intellect in splints".

These words pass through my skin and touch the embers of my heart.
