Sticks and stones…

Words cut as sharpest blade,
Sentences as hard as stone,
Remarks a bullet wound.
Throaway lines of rancour,
Seeping poison to the soul

My enemies fully armed
With the cruel artillery,
A whole arsenal of hate
Loosed a deadly volley;
A canon blast tore out

My heart; brought me
To my knees, felled
By incoming shrapnel:
Carnage more horrible,
Relentless black deluge.

Beat me with your sticks,
Pelt me with sharp stones
Only spare me; defenceless,
From such verbal assault,
Malicious battery of hate.
"Oh what a misery it is to have an intellect in splints".
