Remedia amoris?

Sober-sad you tear my heart:
Remembrance, and regret.
Like a slow burning candle
Scent, a too rich confection,
Or stately baroque melody
A surfeit gluts, hunger bites:
And shards of ice, splinters
Of pain embedded deep
Worm their way through,
In a cruel procession:
A long progress of hurt.

I swallow deep in hope
Of courage to fend off
The spasms of despair
But the adversary that
Ever troubles lovers so
Constricts weak hearts,
Precipitating collapse
And gut-sorrow breeds
Faster than reason builds
It's insufficient barricade.
"Oh what a misery it is to have an intellect in splints".

Fine work Saturn, sounds like it's from the depths of a
tortured heart. take care.
That I might drink, and leave the world unseen.
